Answers to the most common questions about our coaching, workshops and development programs.
General questions
Understanding what we do, who we serve and how our approach differs from traditional training.
Leadership Development is the intentional process of expanding an individual's capacity to lead — encompassing self-awareness, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, communication and the ability to inspire and mobilise others. It matters because organisations with strong leadership pipelines consistently outperform their peers in employee engagement, innovation and financial results. At Refined Leadership, we go beyond generic training by creating tailored experiences that address the specific challenges and aspirations of each leader we work with. Our approach integrates psychometric assessments, real-world practice and reflective coaching to produce lasting behavioural shifts rather than short-lived enthusiasm.
Our programs serve three primary audiences. First, senior executives and C-suite leaders who want a confidential thinking partner to help them navigate complexity, manage stakeholder dynamics and sharpen their strategic vision. Second, mid-level managers who are transitioning from individual contributor roles into leadership positions and need practical frameworks for delegation, feedback and team building. Third, high-potential emerging leaders identified by their organisations as future senior leaders who would benefit from an accelerated development experience. We also design bespoke programs for intact teams that need to rebuild trust, align on strategy or improve cross-functional collaboration.
Three things set us apart. First, every program is custom-built — we never deliver a pre-packaged curriculum without first understanding your context, culture and strategic priorities. Second, our facilitators and coaches are practitioner-scholars who combine deep academic knowledge in organisational psychology with decades of real-world leadership experience. Third, we measure outcomes rigorously. We establish baseline metrics at the start of every engagement and track progress through 360-degree feedback, behavioural observation and business performance indicators so you can see the return on your investment in concrete terms.
Yes. While we are headquartered in South Australia, we have extensive experience delivering high-impact programs via video conferencing platforms. Our virtual sessions are designed with shorter time blocks, interactive exercises and breakout discussions to maintain energy and engagement. Many of our clients opt for a blended model — combining in-person intensives with ongoing virtual coaching sessions — which provides the depth of face-to-face interaction with the convenience and consistency of remote follow-up.
Practical details
Logistics, pricing, timelines and what to expect from the engagement process.
Most executive coaching engagements run for six months with fortnightly sixty-minute sessions. This duration allows enough time for meaningful self-discovery, experimentation with new behaviours and consolidation of change. For leaders facing an acute transition — such as a new role, a merger or a performance challenge — we offer a three-month intensive with weekly sessions. We also provide twelve-month extended programs for leaders undertaking deep transformational work. The right duration depends on your goals, and we discuss this in detail during the complimentary discovery conversation before any commitment is made.
After your initial enquiry, we schedule a complimentary forty-five-minute discovery call to understand your context, challenges and aspirations. If there is a mutual fit, we conduct a diagnostic phase that may include stakeholder interviews, psychometric assessments (such as the Hogan Leadership Forecast Series or the Leadership Circle Profile) and a review of relevant organisational data. From this diagnostic, we co-design a development plan with clear objectives, milestones and success measures. Only then do we commence the coaching or workshop delivery. This thorough front-end process ensures every hour of development time is focused and productive.
Pricing varies depending on the scope, duration and complexity of the engagement. Executive coaching typically ranges from $350 to $600 per session, while team workshops are priced on a per-day basis that accounts for preparation, delivery and post-session reporting. We provide a detailed proposal with transparent pricing after the discovery call. We believe in value-based pricing — our fees reflect the depth of expertise, customisation and measurable impact we deliver, not a one-size-fits-all rate card. For organisations investing in multiple leaders, we offer cohort pricing that provides meaningful savings.
We stand behind the quality of our work. If after the first two coaching sessions or the first workshop day you feel the engagement is not meeting your expectations, we will work with you to adjust the approach at no additional cost. If we cannot find a satisfactory path forward, we will refund the unused portion of your investment. This commitment reflects our confidence in our methodology and our genuine desire to create value for every client we serve. We have never had a client request a full refund, but the guarantee exists because accountability is a core value we live by.
Absolutely. We work with clients across all Australian states and territories, and we have delivered programs for organisations in New Zealand and South-East Asia as well. For interstate and international engagements, we typically combine virtual delivery with periodic in-person visits. Travel costs for in-person sessions outside the Adelaide metropolitan area are quoted transparently in the proposal. Our virtual delivery capabilities are robust — we have invested in professional-grade audiovisual equipment and interactive facilitation tools to ensure the remote experience is engaging and effective.
